Lincolnshire Action Trust (LAT) Families Consultation

Key words: prisons, families, support

The research is LAT’s annual consultation with families of people in prison and people in prison about support offered to maintain family ties during time in prison custody. The research is being done via a one page questionnaire to families and a one page questionnaire to prisoners. The aim is to find out what is working well in terms of support offered by LAT as well as what could be developed in future.

Start date: 28/07/2025

Please provide a brief description of the potential duties to be undertaken by the students:

The duties to be undertaken by students would be to enter the data, which will be a mix of quantitative and quantitative into an excel spreadsheet. As prisons do not have online access, prisoner and family questionnaires are both completed using pen and paper and therefore need to be manually entered. Each questionnaire will likely take an average of 2 minutes to enter (with some longer ones where participants have opted to give qualitative feedback) and there will likely be around 200 family responses and 200 prisoner responses. Students will also be able to support analysis using descriptive statistics, should they wish to. The project is suitable for multiple students to work on.
